Oceanwide Expeditions has announced that the Hantavirus-struck Hondius’ departure from Rotterdam to Vlissingen has been postponed following recommendations from GGD Rotterdam for additional cleaning measures.

According to the company, the delay will also help improve logistics for resupplying the vessel in Rotterdam before it begins its Arctic season.

The remaining crew members from the ship’s previous voyage were transferred to quarantine facilities on the evening of Saturday, May 24. Captain Jan Dobrogowski was transported to Poland using specialized transport arrangements to begin quarantine procedures, while Dutch crew members returned home to complete quarantine in line with established protocols.

Oceanwide Expeditions said GGD Rotterdam is working closely with the company to ensure the vessel can safely return to service. Based on inspection results, GGD advised that further cleaning work should be carried out before departure. Once the cleaning process is completed, GGD will perform a final inspection before the vessel is cleared to leave Rotterdam.

The company said it will provide an updated timeline for the procedures once more information becomes available. Oceanwide Expeditions added that all voyages scheduled from June 13 onward are still expected to operate as planned and at this stage, no additional disruptions to the *Hondius’ *sailing schedule are anticipated.
