Job Overview
WE PREFER CRUISE SHIP EXPERIENCE . JOB DESCRIPTION : The Chief Officer is the Department Head for the Deck Department. · He is next in command onboard and reports directly to the Captain. He must acquire the necessary skills and he must be familiar with the Captain’s duties. · He shall assist the Captain in all matters and keep him informed of significant events pertaining to welfare of the ship, passengers and crew. · He shall oversee all aspects of passenger and crew safety, security and medical issues onboard the ship. · He is in- charge of discipline and all passengers and crew related security onboard and is a member of the Disciplinary Committee. · Upon request by the Captain, conducts Breath Analyser test according to Company procedures. · Shall be available to the crew for consultation. · He shall monitor, supervise and approve all purchasing requests and work in the AMOS-system related to his department. · In his area of responsibility, plan and prepare for dry-docking of the vessel in liaison with Marine Superintendent. · Ensure that the ship always maintains required stability, trim and draught as stated in ship’s stability booklet. · Inspection and cleaning of double bottom tanks with fittings, voids and air vents arrangements in accordance with the planned maintenance system in his responsibility areas. · The Chief Officer is responsible to ensure that all security equipment are to be calibrated, serviced, maintained, and repaired in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations. · Responsible to implement and maintain Company’s Health and Sanitation standard. · Responsible for the garbage handling, according to the Company approved Garbage Management Plan. · Responsible for all Bridge equipment and Bridge officer work schedule. · Responsible for potable water bunkering and equipment. · Responsible for review of water test results and keeping records of pool water and potable water. He shall personally check all printouts and records on a daily basis.
