On September 4th, a fire erupted on the Panama-registered cargo ship Meike while it was docked at the port of Haifa, Israel. Authorities confirmed that no injuries occurred and no environmental harm was reported.
The blaze began inside the vessel’s cargo hold, which was filled with scrap metal. Local firefighting units were quickly dispatched, and crews transferred the burning material onto the quay to bring the situation under control.
Officials have not yet revealed the level of structural damage sustained by the ship, but they stressed that the Meike itself was never at risk.
