UK Approves Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind Project
GTR4 Limited, a partnership between Corio and its affiliates, TotalEnergies, and Gulf Energy Development, has received approval from UK authorities to proceed with the Outer Dowsing offshore wind farm.
The site, positioned around 54 km off the coast of Lincolnshire, will include up to 100 wind turbines. The development will also feature an offshore accommodation platform, as many as six offshore transformer substations, up to two reactive compensation platforms, and up to four export cables.
These export cables will come ashore at Wolla Bank before running underground to a newly built substation at Surfleet Marsh.
Construction on the project could begin as early as 2027, with initial power generation expected by 2030. Once completed, the wind farm will provide up to 1.5GW of capacity, supporting the UK’s goal of reaching 50GW of offshore wind by 2030 and contributing to its net-zero targets.
The project was reviewed under the UK’s Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project framework and participated in the NSIP Early Adopters Programme, which is designed to streamline approvals by focusing on key issues. Environmental considerations were assessed throughout the review and decision-making process.
With consent now granted, the project will continue working with regulators as it progresses toward the construction phase.
