The Costa Serena is sailing its final season in Asia after spending more than a decade operating in the region.

Set to relocate to the Western Hemisphere later this year, the Costa Cruises ship is currently offering cruises from Naha, Japan, and Keelung, Taiwan with its current program featuring voyages ranging from two to five nights and calls at destinations including Ishigaki, Keelung and Miyakojima.

The ship is also operating longer itineraries that include additional ports in Japan and South Korea, such as Nagasaki, Sasebo, Fukuoka, Busan and Yeosu.

In September, the Serena will arrive in Shanghai for its final deployment in China, offering cruises between Chinese ports and destinations in Japan and South Korea. In October, the vessel is scheduled to embark on a 65-night world cruise from Tokyo to Buenos Aires. The itinerary includes visits to Australia, the South Pacific and South America, with highlights including an overnight stay in Bali, Indonesia, and calls in French Polynesia.

Before beginning that voyage, the 2007-built ship will serve as a floating Olympic Village during the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and Para Games. The Costa Serena is expected to remain alongside in Nagoya from September 19 to October 4, 2026, providing accommodation for athletes participating in the event.

Following its return to the Western Hemisphere, the Costa Serena will operate cruises in South America, sailing from Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro.

In early 2027, the ship is due to reposition to Europe, where it will replace the 2003-built *Costa Fortuna *which was sold in 2025 and is scheduled to transfer to Margaritaville at Sea this September.
