Carnival Breeze Damaged After Contact with Cozumel Pier
Carnival Breeze sustained minor damage to its exterior after making contact with a pier while docking in Cozumel, Mexico, on Monday, August 31, 2026.
Passengers aboard Carnival Jubilee, which was berthed nearby, photographed scrapes and a small indentation on the lower part of the vessel’s hull near the waterline. Witnesses reported that Carnival Breeze struck the pier while maneuvering into its docking position.
Photos subsequently shared online appear to show scraped paintwork and localized damage along the side of the cruise ship. One passenger described seeing a small hole in the hull, although Carnival Cruise Line has not officially confirmed the extent of the damage.
Port authorities in Cozumel inspected the pier following the incident and reportedly found no significant damage.
Repair work on Carnival Breeze is understood to have started soon afterward. This included work carried out from inside the affected section of the vessel, as well as cosmetic repairs to its exterior.
There were no reports of injuries following the contact. Some passengers traveling aboard Carnival Breeze also said they did not feel the ship make contact with the pier.
The vessel is currently sailing a five-night Western Caribbean itinerary that departed Galveston, Texas, on August 29. Following its visit to Cozumel, Carnival Breeze is scheduled to call at Progreso on September 1 before arriving back in Galveston on September 3.
Weather reports showed calm conditions and light winds around the time of the incident, indicating that strong winds were unlikely to have been a significant contributing factor.
No operational disruption has been reported as a result of the damage, and *Carnival Breeze *is expected to continue the remainder of its cruise according to schedule.
