Princess Cruises has announced adjustments to its recently unveiled crew tattoo policy following concerns raised by employees across its fleet.

The revisions were shaped after in-depth discussions at the recent HRO Conference, where Human Resource Officers provided recommendations based on direct crew feedback. Company leaders, including President Gus Antorcha and Chief Human Resources Officer Luba Pelikhova, agreed to adopt these changes and pledged to involve HROs earlier in future policy reviews.

In a message to staff, the Fleet HR Team explained that the updated Tattoo Policy aims to balance crew support with maintaining brand standards.

Key Changes

  • New Start Date: The policy will now take effect on December 1, 2025, giving crew additional time to obtain suitable coverage.
  • Tattoo Exception: One small, discreet tattoo (no larger than 5 cm x 5 cm) behind the ear, on the back of the neck, or on each limb may be allowed at the discretion of the onboard Head of Department and Human Resource Officer.
  • Expanded Sleeve Colors: Crew may now wear sleeve covers that match uniform colors, not just neutral or skin-tone options.
  • Uniform Options: Long sleeve versions will be added to the crew uniform store.
  • Crew Store Additions: Optional arm and leg sleeves are being considered for purchase to give employees more flexibility.

What Remains the Same

  • Coverage Requirement: Large or multiple visible tattoos (“sleeves”) must still be covered using sleeves, long sleeves, or trousers in line with uniform rules.
  • Restrictions: Tattoos on the face and neck remain prohibited. Any offensive, inflammatory, or inappropriate tattoos are still banned, while religious or cultural tattoos will continue to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Entertainment Department: Final decisions about tattoos for entertainers remain with the Shoreside Head of Entertainment.
