Cruise Excursion Bus Involved in Corfu Traffic Accident
A shore excursion in Greece was unexpectedly disrupted this week after a bus carrying cruise passengers was involved in a road accident on the island of Corfu.
According to local Greek media, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, May 26, in the Nissaki area when a tourist coach collided with a concrete mixer truck. At the time of the accident, the bus was transporting guests from a cruise ship visiting the island.
Early reports indicated that neither passengers nor drivers sustained any injuries, although the collision understandably caused concern among those onboard. Travelers remained at the scene while authorities carried out the required procedures and worked to clear the roadway.
Images published by local news outlets showed damage to the left side of the bus.
Traffic in the area was temporarily halted to allow emergency personnel to safely remove the vehicles and restore normal road conditions. Once the operation was completed, traffic resumed without any further disruption.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
The cruise ship involved was not identified in local reports. However, ship-tracking information shows that Viking Star was the only cruise vessel scheduled to call at Corfu on that day.
The incident has also highlighted ongoing concerns about road safety in popular tourist destinations during the busy summer and cruise season, when excursion vehicles and local traffic frequently navigate narrow island roads.
