Port of Auckland handled 932,209 teu during the financial year ending June 30, 2026, representing a 5.5% increase compared with the previous year as volumes grew across several key cargo segments.

Vehicle throughput recorded particularly strong growth, increasing by 17.7% to reach 202,555 units. Roll-on, roll-off cargo volumes also climbed significantly, rising 27.2% year on year to 1.15 million tonnes.

Meanwhile, the number of containers transported by rail increased by 64.4%, reaching 172,410 teu during the financial year.

The growth in cargo activity contributed to a record financial performance for the New Zealand port. Underlying net profit after tax increased by 30% to NZ$111.2 million ($65 million), compared with NZ$85.4 million in the previous financial year. Statutory net profit also improved, rising 28% to NZ$116.3 million.

Revenue increased more modestly, reaching NZ$403.8 million compared with NZ$393 million a year earlier.

Port of Auckland said its ongoing investment program is concentrating on expanding capacity while strengthening the resilience of its operations. The port is also investing with future cargo growth in mind as it prepares to accommodate higher volumes in the years ahead.
