Class society DNV has signed a two-year agreement with South Korean developer Kolon Global Corporation to act as owner’s engineer for the 400MW Wando Jangbogo offshore wind farm.

Valued at roughly KRW 2.6 trillion (US$1.85 billion), Wando Jangbogo ranks among South Korea’s largest offshore wind projects to date. The scheme is being developed by Korea Western Power Corporation and Jeonnam Development Corporation, working in partnership with Kolon Global.

As owner’s engineer, DNV will provide technical advisory with a strong emphasis on turbine selection, a key decision in the project’s early phase. The company’s scope also covers project management support, tender preparation, bid evaluation, and contract negotiations.

“The partnership reflects a step-change in scale and ambition, from earlier onshore wind collaborations to a complex, large-scale offshore development,” said Young Hee Moon, Korea manager for renewables and energy systems at DNV.
