A fire broke out aboard the Yavuz Naz ferry on July 13 while it was navigating waters off Marmara Island, carrying around 200 passengers and 70 vehicles. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The blaze ignited at approximately 16:08 local time in the vessel’s engine room. In response, Turkey’s Directorate General of Coastal Safety (KEGM) quickly initiated emergency procedures.

The rapid intervention vessel KIYEM-4 was deployed to carry out cooling efforts aboard the ferry, effectively helping to contain the fire. Following the successful suppression of the flames, the ferry was accompanied back to Marmara Island by both KIYEM-4 and another support ship, KEGM-6.
