The cruise ship Genting Dream came to the aid of a lone boater in the Strait of Malacca on Sunday, September 3, while sailing from Singapore to Phuket.

Crew members noticed a small vessel in distress, with its occupant signaling for assistance, and quickly launched a rescue operation. The individual was brought safely onboard, provided with food and water, and examined by the ship’s medical staff. Their condition has been reported as stable.

StarDream Cruises confirmed it is now working with local authorities to arrange the person’s transfer ashore.

“Ensuring safety at sea is our foremost duty. I am proud of the captain and crew’s vigilance and professionalism in carrying out this successful rescue,” said Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises.
