Koningsdam Marks 10 Years With Holland America
The *Koningsdam *has celebrated its 10th anniversary with Holland America Line, having been delivered on March 31, 2016.
Built by Fincantieri at its Marghera shipyard in Italy, the 99,500-ton vessel entered service as the first ship in Holland America’s Pinnacle Class. At the time of its debut, it was the largest vessel ever constructed for the cruise line.
The 2,660-guest ship spent its inaugural season in Northern Europe. Following its official naming ceremony, the *Koningsdam *arrived in Amsterdam, its first homeport, in May 2016.
From the Dutch capital, the vessel operated a range of cruises to destinations across Northern Europe and the Baltic before repositioning to the Mediterranean later that year in September. The ship then completed its first transatlantic crossing, arriving in Fort Lauderdale to begin a winter season sailing Caribbean itineraries.
In 2022, the *Koningsdam *moved to the U.S. West Coast, where it launched its first summer program featuring cruises to Alaska and Canada. After returning to the region earlier this year, the ship is currently operating Alaska voyages from Vancouver. The vessel is scheduled to arrive in San Diego in October 2026, where it will offer cruises ranging from seven to 18 nights to destinations including the Mexican Riviera and Hawaii.
In early 2027, the *Koningsdam *will also embark on a 35-night South Pacific sailing as part of Holland America Line’s Legendary Voyages collection. The extended itinerary includes calls at ten destinations throughout Hawaii, French Polynesia, and Kiribati, with ports of call including Honolulu, Tahiti, Nuku Hiva, and Fanning Island.
Earlier in 2026, the ship underwent a drydock at the Grand Bahama Shipyard, where several upgrades were completed. Enhancements included the addition of new, larger oceanview staterooms, refreshed live entertainment venues, an expanded casino, and a new Effy retail outlet. According to Holland America Line, the new accommodations were specifically designed for families and groups traveling together, with space for up to four guests.
