In Livorno, Italy a wallet was discovered near the taxi area at Piazza Dante. Inside were an American driver’s license, two credit cards, $690 in cash, and €100. A watchful local promptly handed the wallet over to officers of the Livorno Railway Police.

The police quickly determined the wallet’s owner was a cruise passenger and contacted the Maritime Border Police to find out how many cruise ships were docked that day. Learning that only the Emerald Princess was in port, the officers headed straight to the docks to notify the ship’s crew.

It didn’t take long for the vessel's guest services team to confirm that the wallet belonged to one of their guests.

Deeply appreciative of the quick efforts, the passenger hugged the Italian police officers to express heartfelt thanks. The entire episode was resolved just half an hour before the Emerald Princess departed from Livorno.
