MSC Cruises has cancelled the first scheduled Norway sailing of MSC Euribia for the upcoming summer season. Departures from Kiel on May 2, 2026, and Copenhagen on May 3rd, will no longer go ahead, as the vessel remains delayed in the Persian Gulf. The ship had originally been expected to reposition to Northern Europe without passengers a few days earlier.

The delay is due to the absence of a safe opportunity for the vessel to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Once conditions allow, the journey to Northern Europe is expected to take approximately four weeks.

If the ship remains in the region longer than anticipated, additional cancellations may be announced. Initially, the cruise line had only postponed the start of the season to May 9 from Kiel and May 10 from Copenhagen.

The first itinerary in Northern Europe was set to include calls at Flam, Hellesylt, and Alesund in Norway, alongside the embarkation ports. Guests booked on these sailings have been contacted by MSC with options to either rebook or cancel their trips.

As a result, MSC Cruises’ Northern Europe program from Germany is currently limited to sailings operated by MSC Preziosa from Hamburg and MSCMagnifica from Warnemünde. Any further plans involving MSC Euribia will depend on developments in the Persian Gulf, with the company emphasizing that the safety of the ship and its remaining crew is the top priority.
