Hong Glory Bulk, part of Singapore-based Rongtua Shipping Group, has launched a new office in Athens as part of its strategy to enhance its commercial footprint across the Atlantic region.

An opening event was held at the new premises in Marousi, attended by around 35 guests. The gathering included shipowners, charterers, brokers, and senior representatives from the group’s headquarters. Reflecting the company’s connections to both Chinese and Greek maritime cultures, the celebration included a traditional pomegranate smashing, symbolizing prosperity and good luck.

David Deng, CEO of Rongtua Shipping Group, said: ”This office in Athens is not just a new address. It is our commitment to the Atlantic region—a market we know well and strongly believe in. From here, we will serve our partners across Europe, the Americas, and Africa with greater focus.”

Rongtua has been active in the international dry bulk sector since 2009, with its fleet growing significantly in recent years to more than 120 vessels. This includes 41 owned ships and over 80 long-term chartered vessels across the supramax, ultramax, handysize, and multipurpose segments. Cargo volumes have also risen steadily, surpassing 50 million tonnes in 2025.

Hong Glory Bulk itself was established in mid-2024, with its founding team including Lan Wu (ex-Oldendorff), Alex Haubert (ex-Amaggi), and Matt Rudge (ex-GMI, BRS). The business was created to support and expand Hong Glory’s existing operations in Shanghai and Singapore.
