Oceania Cruises has revealed plans for what it says will be the cruise industry’s first completely gluten-free ocean voyage, which will take place aboard Oceania Vista in 2028.

The 12-night sailing is scheduled to depart on May 31, 2028, and will operate roundtrip from Southampton, UK. The itinerary will take guests to destinations across England, Ireland and Scotland, including Cork, Dublin, Glasgow (Greenock), Stornoway in the Hebrides and Edinburgh (Newhaven).

“As a brand with food at its heart, we believe every guest should be able to experience the joy and discovery that define dining with Oceania Cruises,” said Jason Montague, chief luxury officer of Oceania Cruises.

This voyage gives our culinary team an extraordinary opportunity to reimagine our acclaimed onboard dining experiences through an entirely gluten-free lens while remaining true to the creativity, quality and abundance at the heart of our philosophy to serve The Finest Cuisine at Sea,” added Montague.

“Most importantly, it will allow guests to relax into their vacation knowing the entire culinary experience has been created with them in mind.”

According to Oceania Cruises, every dining venue aboard *Vista *will serve exclusively gluten-free menus during the voyage.

This will include the ship’s signature specialty restaurants, such as Toscana, Polo Grill, Red Ginger and Jacques, as well as more casual options including Aquamar Kitchen and Waves Grill.

“For travelers with celiac disease, food is something that has to be considered at virtually every stage of a journey: where to eat, what to order, how something has been prepared and the potential for cross-contact,” said Maureen Basye, founder of Celiac Cruise.

“The opportunity to board a ship knowing the culinary experience has been designed to be entirely gluten-free fundamentally changes what travel can feel like for so many,” added Basye.

Instead of planning their vacation around food, guests on this sailing can focus on the destinations they are exploring, the people they are traveling with, and the simple joy of traveling well.

Oceania Cruises said passengers will also be able to enjoy experiences including afternoon tea, in-suite dining and freshly baked goods from The Bakery without having to restrict their choices or organize individual meals around their dietary requirements.

The special sailing is being developed in partnership with Celiac Cruise, which will provide its expertise on the requirements of gluten-free travelers. Celiac Cruise will also act as an official booking partner for the voyage.

Oceania added that creating the sailing presents an opportunity for its culinary team to show that an entirely gluten-free dining program can still provide the variety, creativity and enjoyment passengers have come to expect from the cruise line.
