Passenger Dies Aboard Seven Seas Voyager During Donegal, Ireland Visit

A passenger has died aboard Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Voyager while the cruise ship was visiting Greencastle in County Donegal on Friday, August 28.

According to Ireland Live, the passenger was transferred ashore at Greencastle Harbour before being taken to Letterkenny University Hospital.

Seven Seas Voyager arrived in Lough Foyle on Friday morning and anchored off Greencastle. The vessel was calling at the destination as part of a 12-night itinerary sailing from Reykjavik, Iceland, to Southampton, England.

A spokesperson for Foyle Port confirmed the passenger’s death and said the transfer ashore had been organized by the ship’s local agent. Gardaí dealt with the incident in accordance with Irish regulations.

The passenger’s identity has not been disclosed, and no information has been provided regarding the cause of death.

Local tourism organization Go Visit Inishowen offered its condolences following the incident. “Sadly, we understand that a passenger has passed away. Our thoughts are with their family and loved ones at this difficult time,” the organization said.

Following its visit, Seven Seas Voyager continued its scheduled 12-night voyage to Southampton. The luxury cruise ship was originally built in 2003 and underwent refurbishment in 2026. It has capacity for approximately 700 guests and more than 440 crew members.
