Princess Cruises is preparing to introduce stricter rules for its onboard beverage packages, with the entire fleet set to enforce these updates for sailings departing on or after May 9, 2025. This move is part of a broader effort to strengthen the terms of the popular Princess Plus and Premier bundles.

An internal memo distributed to onboard staff explains that the cruise line is emphasizing key beverage service policies to ensure proper use and curb misuse of the package benefits.

Main Updates to Beverage Package Policies

Under the revised guidelines:

  • Guests will be limited to one drink per transaction, no matter if they hold the Princess Plus or Premier beverage package.
  • Sharing beverage package benefits with others will be strictly forbidden. If a guest wishes to buy drinks for companions, those additional beverages must be paid for at full price.
  • Double pours of spirits will no longer be available, though guests may still order double pours of wine by the glass.

Food and Beverage (F&B) teams onboard are being instructed to ensure all crew members are fully trained and informed about these rules before the May 9 implementation date. Princess Cruises says the aim is to uphold consistent guest service while safeguarding the value and fairness of the beverage packages.

Balancing Fair Use and Guest Satisfaction

The Princess Plus and Premier bundles have become popular thanks to their all-inclusive offerings, combining drinks with other perks. However, like many in the cruise industry, Princess has occasionally faced challenges when guests attempt to bend or bypass the package rules.

These updated policies will take effect on all sailings leaving from May 9, 2025, onward. Guests already booked will continue to enjoy the full range of their beverage package benefits — provided they adhere to the new guidelines.
