Riverboat American Encore Christened in Lewiston, Idaho
After successfully completing sea trials in early March, American Cruise Lines officially christened its newest riverboat, the American Encore, during a ceremony held in Lewiston, Idaho, on May 12, according to a company statement.
The vessel’s godmother is Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who spent two decades representing Eastern Washington and the Snake River region in Congress.
Guests taking part in the inaugural sailing began their journey with a hotel stay in Portland, Oregon, on May 5 before boarding the ship in Stevenson, Washington, the following day for a nine-day Columbia & Snake Rivers cruise.
The American Encore will now continue operating a series of nine-day itineraries through early November 2026 and according to the cruise line, the vessel offers more space per passenger than any other riverboat currently in operation worldwide.
American Cruise Lines also confirmed that two additional sister ships, the American Anthem and American Grace, are expected to join the fleet in 2027 and 2028 respectively.
