Seven people remain missing after a service boat capsized alongside the Scorpio-managed oil and chemical tanker Sea Quest earlier today near Beira outer anchorage, Mozambique.

The small vessel, which was transferring signing-on crew members to the 2012-built MR2 tanker - previously named STI Ruby - had 21 people on board at the time of the accident. Fourteen individuals were rescued, but seven others, including five new crew members, are still unaccounted for.

The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) has been alerted, and search and rescue operations are ongoing with assistance from nearby vessels. Three of the rescued individuals are currently receiving medical attention aboard the Sea Quest, with further treatment arrangements in progress.

In a statement, Scorpio Marine Management said it is maintaining close communication with local authorities and the families of the missing. The company confirmed that rescue operations are continuing and pledged to conduct a full investigation into the cause of the incident. It added that updates will be released as new information becomes available.
