The Singapore-flagged bunker tanker Marine Dynamo and the Malta-registered supramax Flag Gangos were involved in a collision on Monday, roughly 8 kilometers south of Tanah Merah.

According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the incident occurred at around 9:25 a.m. local time. Both vessels are currently stable, and authorities have launched an investigation.

One seafarer aboard the Marine Dynamo sustained minor bruises and sprains but is receiving care on the vessel. All other crew members from both ships have been confirmed safe.

Light traces of oil were spotted near the tanker. The vessel’s master reported that marine gas oil (MGO) leaked from a service tank positioned above the waterline. The MPA explained that MGO is a light fuel, similar to diesel, which evaporates and disperses relatively quickly in the environment.

In response, patrol boats and spill control units were dispatched to the area, supported by drone surveillance, to contain and disperse the sheens. MPA also issued navigational warnings but stressed that shipping traffic remains unaffected.

The Marine Dynamo, an 8,300-dwt bunker tanker built in 2023, is owned by Vitol Bunkers and currently chartered by Chevron. The Flag Gangos, a 56,500-dwt bulk carrier constructed in 2013, is owned by Golden Union of Greece.
