Three Legionnaires’ Disease Cases Linked to Norwegian Prima

Norwegian Cruise Line is cooperating with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after three guests who sailed aboard Norwegian Prima in May and July 2026 were diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease.

In a notice sent to passengers and travel partners on September 1, NCL said investigators have not yet determined whether the guests were exposed through the ship’s water system or from another source. The investigation is continuing.

As part of its response, the cruise line tested water-related equipment and fixtures aboard Norwegian Prima, including showers, faucets and hot tubs. NCL said all results received to date have been negative. Further testing will be carried out while the investigation remains underway.

The cruise line said it shared the health information as a precaution and stressed that passenger health and safety remain a priority.

Most people diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease recover when they receive appropriate medical treatment.
