Tianjin Oriental’s Dream to Become Floating Hotel at Beer Festival

Tianjin Oriental’s *Dream *is set to depart Shanghai on July 17 before arriving at Qingdao International Cruise Homeport on July 20, where it will begin a 10-day stationary staycation through July 29. During its stay, the ship will serve as both the first offshore venue for the Qingdao International Beer Festival and a floating hotel for visitors.

The initiative is the company’s first event-focused, port-based cruise product. Guests can choose between two types of admission: day passes for those visiting the festival and overnight packages for travelers wishing to stay aboard the vessel.

The project also represents a new direction for China’s cruise industry. While domestic cruise offerings have traditionally focused on voyages that do not visit foreign ports, this concept instead keeps the ship docked as part of a major local cultural event.

Until now, Qingdao’s summer 2026 cruise schedule had been relatively limited, consisting of two Kaissa-chartered sailings to South Korea aboard the *Visio *in early July and a single themed “Sea Film Festival” cruise on the Adora Mediterranea in May.

The stationary staycation aboard the *Dream *is primarily aimed at residents of Shandong Province and visitors from the surrounding region.

The vessel had originally been scheduled to operate 30 cruises from Shanghai Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal during the first half of 2026. However, several departures through August 30 were canceled to accommodate the new staycation program.

After completing its time in Qingdao, the *Dream *will operate a short series of cruises from Dalian before returning to Shanghai on September 3.
