Virgin Voyages achieved its highest-ever revenue day on Thursday, Aug. 13, beating the record previously set during Black Friday 2025.

The new milestone continues a period of strong momentum for the cruise line, with demand for its recently announced Northern European program helping drive the record-breaking performance.

More than half of the day’s revenue came from Virgin Voyages’ first Scandinavia and Baltics season with the cruise line introducing five new itineraries departing from Amsterdam aboard Valiant Lady during summer 2028.

Nirmal Saverimuttu, CEO of Virgin Voyages, said: “Breaking a record on a random Thursday in August seems odd until you realize all of the momentum we’ve built over the last eight months. It’s pretty incredible, but what excites me most is knowing we’re now the go-to brand for anyone traveling without kids.”

According to the company, its August booking pace had been running 20 percent ahead of the previous year before the record day. By the end of August 13, that figure had climbed to more than 45 percent above the prior year.

One itinerary has already emerged as a particularly strong seller. The 11-night “Arctic Circle” voyage has generated unprecedented levels of demand.

Virgin Voyages said the achievement was not driven solely by its new Northern Europe program and also attributed its performance to several initiatives and developments that have contributed to its momentum over recent months. These include a record Wave season, its Boatchella initiative and a co-branded Content Creator Voyage developed in partnership with TikTok.

Other factors highlighted by Virgin Voyages include:

  • The introduction of its AI-powered travel assistant
  • Updates to Valiant Lady, including refreshed spaces and experiences
  • Meetings between Scarlet Lady and Valiant Lady off the coasts of Ibiza and Iceland

Together, the initiatives have helped Virgin Voyages build greater interest in its cruise product and expand its presence in the adults-only travel market.

Virgin Voyages said it believes it is well positioned to benefit from increasing demand for vacations designed specifically for adults, aiming to provide guests with a boutique hotel-at-sea experience, and targeting travelers looking for a more curated and elevated vacation without children onboard.

The company also pointed to changing consumer spending habits as another factor supporting its approach. According to Deloitte’s 2026 Summer Travel Survey, travelers expect to spend 17 percent more on their longest summer vacation compared with last year.

Many travelers are directing this additional spending toward higher-quality experiences, a trend Virgin Voyages believes aligns closely with its own offering.

The cruise line said its focus is on providing value while maintaining the overall quality of the guest experience.
