Indian authorities have seized 115 kilograms of cocaine from the container vessel *Europe *during a joint operation that also led to the arrest of three crew members. A fourth crew member remains missing and is believed to have drowned after reportedly jumping overboard while attempting to escape.

The operation was carried out by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) and the Indian Coast Guard. The vessel was anchored near Mundra Port when authorities acted on intelligence suggesting narcotics were being transported onboard.

After receiving the tip-off, the ATS coordinated with the Coast Guard to intercept the ship around midnight on May 25. As officials boarded the vessel, several crew members were reportedly seen throwing bags into the sea. One crew member also entered the water during the operation.

Authorities recovered five bags from the water, although one additional bag could not be located. In total, 115 kilograms of cocaine were seized, with an estimated street value of approximately $11.9 million.

A search operation continued for two days following the incident, but the crew member who jumped overboard has not been found and is feared to have drowned.

According to investigators, the arrested crew members admitted that the drugs had been concealed in the ship’s engine room since November 2025.

Authorities believe the case has exposed a previously unidentified maritime trafficking route linking Latin America and India, allegedly operated by an international drug smuggling network.
