13 Passengers Charged After Mass Brawl on Costa Smeralda VIDEO
Thirteen passengers aged between 18 and 20 have been charged following a violent confrontation aboard the cruise ship Costa Smeralda.
According to Sky TG24, the incident involved two groups of young passengers. One group was reportedly from Lecce and had embarked in Civitavecchia, while the second group was from Sicily and had joined the ship in Palermo.
The altercation is believed to have started close to the ship’s nightclub after a comment was made toward a young woman. A verbal dispute followed before the situation quickly escalated into a physical fight. Tables, chairs and other objects were allegedly used during the confrontation.
Footage showing the incident was subsequently released by Italian police and shared by PalermoinDiretta.
The disturbance reportedly continued from the nightclub area through the ship’s corridors before reaching the elevators.
Reports state that one young passenger was attacked while lying unconscious on the floor. The injured passenger was taken to a hospital to undergo medical examinations. Doctors reportedly determined that the individual had not suffered serious injuries.
Crew members stepped in to bring the fight under control and alerted the authorities. After Costa Smeralda arrived in Palermo, officers from the Maritime Border Police began investigating the incident. Investigators examined surveillance footage from aboard the cruise ship to establish what had happened and identify the passengers allegedly involved in the confrontation.
Following the investigation, all 13 young passengers were charged with aggravated brawling.
