Adora Mediterranea Launches Heritage Cruises from Guangzhou
Adora Cruises has announced that the Adora Mediterranea will operate a series of themed sailings from Guangzhou as part of its “Intangible Cultural Heritage on the Waves” program.
According to the company, artists, musicians and cultural performers will be invited aboard to showcase Lingnan traditions throughout the season. These voyages will supplement the ship’s regular entertainment offerings with activities centered on Cantonese opera, Guangdong music, Guangcai porcelain, Foshan woodblock New Year paintings and Foshan lantern craftsmanship.
The themed program will take place across nine cruises scheduled between December 25, 2025, and March 6, 2026.
Adora said the initiative will deliver “a rich and colorful experience of Cantonese intangible cultural heritage” through performance based events and hands on craft activities.
The company will partner with several well known cultural figures, including Wing Chun inheritor Don Chonghua of the Ip Man lineage, Wing Chun master Zhang Baozong, Cantonese opera artist Huang Cuifang and additional heritage practitioners, along with young performers from the Zunling Zhi Xiu Orchestra.
“We continue to explore the innovative model of ‘Cruise + Culture’ for cultural tourism integration, aiming to create a cruise vacation experience that better understands the Chinese people,” Adora noted in its announcement.
“This time, Adora Cruises, in collaboration with China International Cultural Group, is launching intangible cultural heritage-themed activities during the Guangzhou sailing season, hoping to enrich the cultural connotation of guests’ cruise travels,” the company added.
Adora emphasized that this cultural initiative supports its broader strategy in China’s Greater Bay Area, using cruising “as a medium to promote and disseminate Lingnan culture.”
The Adora Mediterranea’s Guangzhou season began on December 7, 2025, and features 20 international itineraries.
Most departures consist of four and five night cruises to Vietnamese destinations including Da Nang, Ha Long Bay and Hue. In addition, the ship will operate two eight night voyages departing January 7 and March 11, 2026, visiting Vietnam, Malaysia and Brunei for what Adora described as a warm winter escape from the Greater Bay Area.
