Hamburg will celebrate its 837th Port Anniversary from May 8 to 10, 2026, one of Europe’s largest maritime events, with AIDA Cruises once again taking part as a key sponsor for the 12th time.

AIDA Cruises will have a strong presence over the three-day event, with three of its ships scheduled to call:

  • AIDAluna – May 8 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Altona Cruise Center
  • AIDAperla – May 9 (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), Steinwerder Cruise Center
  • AIDAsol – May 10 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), Altona Cruise Center

The cruise line will also create a 400-square-meter “Holiday World” near the Elbphilharmonie, giving visitors the opportunity to experience elements of a cruise without leaving land. The area will include a mock cabin, travel advice services, live entertainment, and interactive features, all designed to create a relaxed waterfront setting.

Guests interested in exploring the ships will be able to join guided tours onboard. These tours offer a look at key areas of the vessels, along with dining experiences and insight into life at sea. Spaces are limited and expected to fill quickly.

Hamburg continues to be a major base for AIDA Cruises. In 2026, the company plans to deploy seven ships to the port, with around 120 scheduled calls. On average, an AIDA vessel arrives every three days, representing more than half of the city’s cruise passengers.

From Hamburg, AIDA offers sailings throughout the year, including routes across Northern Europe, trips to the Canary Islands, and longer worldwide itineraries. One standout voyage is a 126-day world cruise aboard AIDAsol, departing on October 18, 2026. The journey will include destinations in South America, the South Pacific, Australia, and South Africa before returning to Hamburg in February 2027.

AIDA will also celebrate its 30th anniversary on June 7, 2026, with a special gathering of three ships in Hamburg. AIDAperla, AIDAsol, and AIDAprima are expected to meet along the Elbe River, creating a rare multi-ship display.

The cruise line continues to collaborate with the Hamburg Port Authority to expand the use of shore power, allowing ships to switch off engines while docked and reduce emissions. In 2025, AIDA recorded more than 400 shore power connections, with plans to exceed 600 in 2026.

In addition to its cruise operations, AIDA supports a range of local initiatives in Hamburg. These include partnerships with cultural institutions, maritime groups, and social programs, highlighting its ongoing connection to the city.
