AIDA Donates Furniture to Support Numerous Community Projects
AIDA Cruises has shared that 4,700 pieces of furniture from AIDAluna were donated after the vessel’s recent drydock at Chantier Naval in Marseille, completed under the AIDA Evolution program.
According to the company, the effort was carried out in partnership with the Hamburg-based association DER HAFEN HILFT! e. V., which coordinates furniture distribution to non-profit organizations.
“Thanks to AIDA and other partners at our side, cleared furniture has become a concrete aid for people in difficult life situations,” said Anja van Eijsden, chairwoman of DER HAFEN HILFT!.
Marc Spingler, director of hotel maintenance, drydocks and refit at AIDA Cruises, added: “We are very pleased that our well-preserved furniture is helping through the DER HAFEN association. By donating furniture, we are making our contribution and showing how help can be organized together with various partners.”
The logistics were supported by Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG, HHLA, which provided free containers, while Daimler Truck AG arranged complimentary transport to Hamburg.
AIDA noted that more than 50 charitable projects benefited from the donated items.
Steffi Heinicke, member of the executive committee and SVP of guest experience at AIDA Cruises, said: “This initiative demonstrates how close collaboration between business, volunteers and non-profit organizations creates support where it is urgently needed.”
“We are proud and grateful for the cooperation with our partners DER HAFEN HILFT e. V., HHLA and Daimler Truck. Special thanks go to the numerous volunteers and our dedicated AIDAluna crew who put their heart and soul into making this project possible.”
Corinna Jung, head of compliance programs and corporate citizenship at Daimler Truck, stated: “We combine our social commitment and bring together people who are committed to society, the environment and international disaster relief.”
Philip Sweens, managing director of HHLA International, added: “We are pleased to support this important aid project with our transport services.”
