MSC Founder Transfers Ownership to His Children
MSC has undergone a significant leadership shift, with founder Gianluigi Aponte formally transferring ownership of the company to his children, Diego Aponte and Alexa Aponte Vago.
The transition was completed in late 2025 and publicly announced on April 13, 2026, marking an important milestone for the Geneva-headquartered shipping group.
Despite the change in ownership, the company’s leadership structure remains largely unchanged. Diego Aponte continues in his role as President, while Alexa Aponte Vago remains Chief Financial Officer. Gianluigi Aponte will continue to serve as Executive Chairman, ensuring continuity and providing strategic oversight.
In a statement, Aponte described the handover as a natural progression for the family business, highlighting his confidence in the next generation to lead the company forward.
MSC also confirmed that its primary focus on container shipping will remain the same, where it currently leads the global market. At the same time, the group is continuing to grow its presence in rail, air cargo, and logistics, further strengthening its position as a fully integrated transport provider.
