AIDAdiva Makes Historic First Transit Through Panama Canal
The AIDAdiva has completed a milestone passage through the Panama Canal during its world cruise, marking the first time an AIDA Cruises vessel has sailed through the waterway. The ship moved from the Caribbean to the Pacific by transiting the canal’s original locks on December 6, 2025.
AIDAdiva is currently operating a 133 night world voyage that includes 54 destinations in 27 countries across five continents. The journey began in early November when the vessel departed Germany.
Covering 35,000 nautical miles, the itinerary started in Hamburg and included a stop in Portland in the United Kingdom before the ship made its Atlantic crossing. The cruise continued with calls in North America, visiting Boston, New York City, Charleston and Halifax.
After a stop in Miami, the 2007 built vessel headed to Caribbean ports such as Belize City, Cozumel and Puerto Limón. From there, AIDAdiva visited Colón and proceeded to its Panama Canal crossing before sailing on toward Punta Arenas in Costa Rica.
As the world cruise advances, AIDAdiva is scheduled to visit ports in Guatemala and Mexico, followed by calls in California and Hawaii. She will then cross the Pacific to reach destinations in Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan and other parts of Asia.
AIDA’s 2025 to 26 world cruise continues with stops in Southeast Asia, the Indian Ocean and Africa before returning to Europe in March.
Before embarking on its global voyage, AIDAdiva underwent a major refurbishment under the AIDA Evolution program. The seven week drydock included new technology, refreshed staterooms, redesigned public areas and updated dining and entertainment venues.
AIDA also recently completed a similar upgrade on the AIDAluna, which resumed service on December 10, 2025.
