A cargo vessel, the Aquarius, has lost 12 containers after encountering severe conditions caused by storm Therese near the Canary Islands. The ship also sustained structural damage and has been withdrawn from service until further notice.

The incident took place on March 19 when the vessel was approximately 24 nautical miles off Tinajo in the Canary Islands. At the time, it was sailing from Huelva to Las Palmas when strong winds and rough seas caused the cargo to shift, leading to containers being lost overboard.

As a result of both the heavy weather and the movement of cargo, the vessel suffered damage to its structure. Despite this, the ship was able to proceed under its own power to the port of Las Palmas.
