COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Moves Toward Shanghai Listing
COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry has made its first official move toward securing an A-share listing on the Shanghai stock market.
China’s securities regulator revealed that the shipbuilding and repair company registered for listing guidance on September 12. CICC and China Merchants Securities have been appointed to advise the company during the process.
Headquartered in Shanghai and wholly owned by state-controlled COSCO, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry completed its transformation into a joint-stock company in June. The restructuring cleared the way for the company to pursue its proposed stock market flotation.
The company currently has registered capital of RMB3.6 billion ($505 million).
COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry operates nine large and medium-sized shipyards. Its activities cover a broad range of maritime sectors, including newbuild construction, ship repair and conversion, offshore construction and the production of marine equipment.
The company also has a substantial orderbook. At the end of 2025, it held orders for 216 vessels totaling 24.77 million dwt, with 76 ships already under construction.
In addition to its shipbuilding operations, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry is a major player in the global vessel repair and conversion market. Its shipyards handle more than 1,500 vessels every year, while the company has also developed a particularly significant presence in the market for floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel conversions.
