Crew Member Airlifted From Cruise Ship Near Santorini
A crew member was evacuated from a cruise ship off the coast of Santorini on October 6, 2025, after suffering a severe medical emergency, according to local Greek media reports.
The Port Authority of Thira was alerted late Saturday night when a 30-year-old Indonesian man, employed as a Linen Keeper aboard a Maltese-flagged cruise ship, was reported to be in urgent need of medical care.
Authorities swiftly coordinated the evacuation, assisting the crew member’s transfer from the vessel to shore. He was first taken to a private clinic in Thira for initial treatment before being airlifted to a private hospital in Athens for advanced medical attention.
Following the successful evacuation, the cruise ship resumed its scheduled voyage.
While officials did not confirm the vessel’s identity, four cruise ships were anchored at Santorini on October 6: Marella Explorer, Seven Seas Grandeur, MSC Sinfonia and Norwegian Viva.
