Aurora Expeditions has introduced a new Arctic-focused photography voyage for 2027, following strong demand for its previously sold-out Antarctica photography trip, according to a press release.

The new itinerary, titled Iceland & East Greenland: Through the Lens, is scheduled to depart on July 31, 2027. The 11-day expedition will take place onboard the Sylvia Earle, with fares starting from AUD $14,956 per person.

Expert-Led Photography Experience

The journey will be guided by four professional photographers: Scott Portelli, Peter Eastway, David Vargas, and Wayne Sorensen.

Portelli is a renowned wildlife and underwater photographer whose work has appeared in National Geographic, BBC, and Australian Geographic. Eastway is a landscape and travel photographer and the founder of Australia’s Better Photography Magazine.

Vargas brings more than 20 years of experience as a photographer and art director, with work recognized by National Geographic, while Sorensen is known for his landscape and wildlife photography, earning recognition from Australian Geographic and the Natural History Museum of London.

Throughout the expedition, guests will benefit from onboard workshops, image critiques, and hands-on guidance in the field.

Destinations and Wildlife Opportunities

The itinerary will explore remote and visually striking locations, including East Greenland’s Scoresbysund, the largest fjord system in the world, and Iceland’s Westfjords.

Passengers will have the chance to photograph a variety of wildlife, such as whales, seabirds, and musk oxen, during Zodiac excursions and landings.

Focus on Exploration and Access

The voyage is designed to maximize time off the ship, giving guests extended opportunities to explore and capture images in locations that are rarely visited.
