A crew member from the MSC Magnifica was evacuated on Wednesday evening after what the ship’s medical team described as a likely heart attack. The incident occurred while the vessel was sailing near San Vito Lo Capo, Sicily.

Around 19:00, the Port Authority of Trapani received an urgent distress call from the cruise ship requesting medical assistance. The rescue was coordinated by MRSC Palermo, with additional support from CIRM (Centro Internazionale Radio Medico), the Italian Coast Guard, and emergency service 118 personnel.

Despite rough weather, the Coast Guard dispatched the patrol vessel SAR CP 330, which maneuvered into a protected position to safely come alongside the cruise ship. At about 21:15, the patient was transferred onto the patrol boat and transported to Trapani, where an ambulance crew was waiting to continue medical treatment.

Authorities have not released details about the crew member’s identity, nationality, or onboard role, and no updates have been provided regarding their condition after reaching shore.
