Cruise Lines Fund Rebuild of Ketchikan Veterans Post
Princess Cruises and Holland America Line have announced a joint contribution of $175,000 in 2026 to support the reconstruction of an American Legion Post in Ketchikan, Alaska.
The Joseph T. Craig, Post 3 building, which had stood in the same location for over 85 years, was destroyed in an arson attack in September 2023, according to a statement. The post plays an important role in supporting local veterans, their families, and the wider Ketchikan community.
“At Princess Cruises, we are deeply connected to the communities we visit, and Ketchikan holds a special place in our Alaska program,” said Gus Antorcha, Princess Cruises president.
“We are honored to support the rebuilding of American Legion Post 3 and to stand alongside the veterans and families who rely on it as a place of connection, remembrance, and service.”
Of the total contribution, $100,000 will be provided by the Princess Foundation, while Holland America Line has committed $75,000, including funds raised through its On Deck for a Cause program in Alaska.
Both cruise lines have also confirmed plans to continue contributing to the rebuilding effort in the future, with further details expected in 2027.
“American Legion Post 3 represents resilience, service, and community - values that deeply align with Holland America Line,” said Beth Bodensteiner, Holland America president.
“We are proud along with our guests to support the rebuilding of this historic post and to help ensure it remains a place of connection and support for Ketchikan’s veterans and families for generations to come.”
