Europa 2 to Host Olympic-Linked Dance Performances
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has announced that the Europa 2 will feature dance performances by three choreographers associated with the Olympic and Paralympic Games during the 2026–27 seasons.
According to the company, guests will be able to experience performances by Diego Tortelli and the Italian contemporary dance company Aterballetto on two separate sailings in 2026.
The first performance will take place during a nine-day cruise sailing from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Dubrovnik between August 16 and 25, 2026. The second will be offered on an eight-day voyage from Palma de Mallorca to Lisbon, scheduled for October 10 to 18, 2026.
Following his appointment as Head of Choreography for the closing ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics, Tortelli will present a newly adapted version of an existing work onboard the Europa 2. In 2027, another themed cruise will feature Yoann Bourgeois during a 12-day sailing from Civitavecchia (Rome) to Palma de Mallorca, running from August 3 to 15.
Bourgeois, who served as Head of Choreography for the Paralympic opening ceremony, is expected to showcase his distinctive blend of dance, movement, and contemporary circus through the production “NOVECENTO – The Legend of the Ocean Pianist.”
A further performance is planned for guests sailing on the 13-day itinerary from Tenerife to Civitavecchia (Rome), departing July 21 and returning August 3, 2027. On that voyage, Alexander Ekman, who was Head of Choreography for the 2024 Paralympic Games, will present a performance combining technical precision, humor, and emotional expression.
