Ever Feat Arrives in Montevideo After Storm Damage at Sea

On July 29, the Ever Feat, an Evergreen-operated vessel, docked at the Port of Montevideo, Uruguay following severe weather encountered off the coast of Rio Grande, Brazil. The ship sustained damage to between 30 and 40 containers, some of which appear to be at risk of falling overboard.
Photographs taken of the vessel show a section of the container stacks leaning precariously, with several units visibly crushed or dented. Some containers also appear to be hanging partially off the ship’s deck.
Salvage operations are currently underway, led by Montecon in coordination with local firefighters and Uruguay’s National Port Administration. Authorities have set up an exclusion zone around the vessel to safely manage the damaged cargo.
The Uruguayan Coast Guard has issued safety guidelines for dealing with the affected containers, as they contain fertilisers that could be hazardous or environmentally harmful.
With damage confirmed, clients’ cargo insurance policies have been activated. As of now, it remains unclear whether any containers were lost at sea, and the financial impact of the incident has not yet been disclosed.
