A fire broke out aboard the Ro-Ro passenger ship Splendid while it was docked in Genoa, Italy, prompting the precautionary evacuation of both crew and passengers. The incident, caused by a generator issue, was swiftly managed, and no injuries have been reported.

According to the fire department, the alert was raised on the evening of June 3 at approximately 9:00 PM local time. A crew member noticed smoke coming from one of the ship’s generators and initiated a manual shutdown to prevent escalation.

Emergency services responded rapidly, dispatching two fire engines and a fireboat to the scene. Everyone on board was evacuated for safety reasons, while firefighting crews tackled the blaze, which was extinguished quickly.

Following containment, fire personnel carried out a detailed inspection of the vessel to confirm the flames had not spread to other areas.

Initial assessments indicate the ship did not suffer any structural damage during the incident.
