Fred. Olsen's Balmoral Launches 2026 Newcastle Cruise Season
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines’ Balmoral has begun a four-month schedule of sailings from the Port of Tyne in Newcastle.
From February through September 2026, the ship will operate 17 departures from the North East city, offering voyages ranging from short one-night breaks to longer 14-night itineraries.
The program features a variety of destinations, including Arctic Norway for Northern Lights sailings, scenic cruises through Norway’s fjords, and voyages to the Baltic, Scandinavia, Iceland, and beyond.
“We’re delighted to welcome our guests from the North East back on board Balmoral as she begins her programme of sailings from Newcastle,” said Doug Glenwright, guest experience director at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines. “This programme offers an inspiring collection of sailings – from the chance to seek out the Northern Lights in Arctic Norway to exploring Europe’s riverside cities.”
The season officially began on February 21 with a 10-night “In Search of the Northern Lights” cruise departing from Newcastle.
Balmoral returns to service with several updates, including a rotating Colours & Tastes dining menu and a new exclusive Chef’s Table experience. A refreshed entertainment lineup, created in partnership with RWS, is being introduced from February, with enhanced daytime programming and new theater productions debuting from mid-2026.
