Man Tries to Board Cruise Ship via Rope at Sydney Port

In a bizarre moment at Sydney’s Circular Quay, a 29-year-old man attempted to climb aboard a cruise ship by scaling the mooring ropes that secure it to the dock.
The incident took place around 3 p.m. on Saturday, as the Carnival Adventure was docked and preparing for a nine-day voyage to the Great Barrier Reef. Spectators quickly gathered as the man began his ascent, with several capturing videos and dubbing him “Spider-Man” across social media platforms.
But the daring climb didn’t go as planned. Cruise ships aren’t designed for boarding via mooring lines, and authorities were quickly notified. Police arrived to find the man dangling precariously above Sydney Harbour. A police vessel positioned itself below as the rope was carefully lowered, allowing officers to safely retrieve him before he ended up in the water.
After being brought ashore, the man was detained and taken to a police station. He now faces several charges, including unauthorized entry into secure dockside and waterside zones, as well as bypassing the required security screening procedures.
The strange stunt created a moment of spectacle, but also served as a reminder of the serious safety and security measures in place at cruise terminals.
