The MSC Meraviglia resumed its regular sailings on May 18, 2025, following a week of maintenance in Portland, Maine, where it underwent repairs to address a propulsion issue.

Now operating seven-night cruises out of New York City, the ship was docked at Ocean Gateway Terminal for technical work, which included the installation of new propeller blades.

According to a report from WMTW News 8 Portland, a dive team supported the repairs. The U.S. Coast Guard issued alerts to local boaters about the activity, advising caution near the site during the operation.

Following the successful completion of the repairs, the vessel returned to New York in time to embark on its next voyage. The current itinerary features stops in Port Canaveral, Nassau, and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in the Bahamas.

Earlier in April, MSC Cruises had notified passengers that the May 11, 2025, departure would be canceled to allow time for the necessary fixes. In its announcement, the cruise line stated that the Meraviglia was experiencing propulsion limitations that impacted its ability to maintain standard cruising speeds.

The affected cruise was scheduled to depart from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal for a week-long journey to Florida and the Bahamas, including three sea days and port calls at Port Canaveral, Nassau, and Ocean Cay.

The MSC Meraviglia has been sailing from New York since April 2023, offering a mix of five- to seven-night voyages to destinations like the Bahamas, Florida, and Bermuda. The 2017-built ship is set to return to Europe for the 2026 summer season, offering Western Mediterranean cruises before repositioning back to New York for winter 2026-27.
