China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Corporation has confirmed that it has finalized an agreement with Mystic Cruises to construct one new cruise ship, with options for three additional vessels.

The signing ceremony took place in China last week. Mario Ferreira, president of Mystic Cruises, signed on behalf of the company, while Mei Zhonghua, vice general manager of China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry and general manager of China Merchants Cruise Manufacturing Company, represented the shipyard.

Ferreira had previously noted that he was in discussions regarding a potential shipbuilding contract in China.

While further specifications have not yet been released, the company stated that the vessels will be equipped with tri-fuel capabilities.

Mystic Cruises is the parent company of Atlas Cruises and Nicko Cruises. It has already completed a series of luxury expedition ships at West Sea in Portugal, with the final vessel in that series, Star Seeker, set for delivery to Windstar Cruises next week.
