MSC Expands Bahamas Offering With New Sandy Cay
MSC Cruises is set to grow its private island portfolio in The Bahamas with the addition of Sandy Cay, a new high-end destination planned to open in 2028 alongside Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.
The new island will cater to guests from both MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys, offering a more peaceful and immersive environment. Designed as a quieter alternative to Ocean Cay, Sandy Cay will focus on relaxation and a closer connection to nature.
The island takes its name from its aragonite sand, known for being among the brightest in the world. The concept centers on simplicity and calm, creating a refined setting where guests can unwind while surrounded by the natural beauty of The Bahamas.
Like Ocean Cay, the development will emphasize sustainability, combining luxury with environmental responsibility and preserving the surrounding ecosystem. Situated in the same clear waters, Sandy Cay will provide a contrasting experience to Ocean Cay, allowing guests to choose between a livelier atmosphere and a more tranquil escape.
MSC also confirmed that Ocean Cay will continue to evolve, with plans to introduce new dining options, expanded beach areas for families and adults, additional relaxation zones, and more interactive marine conservation activities.
