On 19 August, the Norwegian-flagged passenger ship Nordstjernen briefly ran aground at Rostock–Warnemünde, Germany, following a mechanical issue. Thirty-one passengers were on board at the time. No injuries or oil pollution were reported.

The grounding occurred as the vessel was reversing away from its berth at the Warnemünde cruise terminal. According to initial reports, the engine did not respond when ahead power was ordered, causing the ship to drift toward the opposite embankment and touch bottom. The crew regained control and returned the vessel to the berth under its own power.

After the incident, the tug Fairplay 55 towed Nordstjernen to Rostock for inspection and a technical safety survey. Other cruise ship calls at Warnemünde proceeded without disruption. Preliminary findings indicate a malfunction in the pneumatic control system for the controllable-pitch propeller.

Following completion of the inspections, the vessel was cleared to sail. Nordstjernen departed Rostock on 20 August to continue its itinerary to Skagen, Denmark.
