Norwegian Cruise Line has announced a change in deployment plans for two of its vessels—the Norwegian Breakaway and the Norwegian Prima—for the upcoming 2026-2027 winter cruise season.

Following the cancellation of more than 40 scheduled sailings, the company revealed that the Norwegian Breakaway will now operate out of New Orleans, while the Norwegian Prima will instead be based in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

“Due to a fleet redeployment, the Norwegian Breakaway’s sailings from November 8, 2026, through and including March 29, 2027, have been cancelled, and the ship will be repositioned to New Orleans,” Norwegian explained.

The cruise line confirmed that the Norwegian Prima will take over the Breakaway’s previously planned Southern Caribbean voyages from Puerto Rico during that same timeframe.

Reservations for these updated cruise routes will become available on August 8, 2025.

“As passionate cruisers ourselves, we know this wasn’t part of your plan, and we truly apologize for any disruption or disappointment this may cause,” Norwegian added.

To assist guests affected by the changes, the company stated that full refunds will be automatically processed to the original payment method used at the time of purchase.

“We recognize that this wasn’t part of your original travel arrangements, and as a token of our appreciation for your patience, we’re pleased to offer a ten percent discount in the form of a Future Cruise Credit (FCC),” Norwegian added.

This credit can be redeemed for any publicly listed cruise departing before the end of 2027.

Originally, the Norwegian Prima was expected to make her seasonal debut in New Orleans for winter 2026-27, while the Norwegian Breakaway was set to operate out of San Juan. Those plans have now been reversed as part of the fleet’s redeployment strategy.
