Norwegian Viva Wake Stirs Environmental Concerns

Drone footage recently filmed in the port of Volos has sparked discussion following the departure of the cruise ship Norwegian Viva.
Captured by Tasos Triantafyllou of Tasos T. Aerial Drone Photography and shared by gegonota.news, the video reveals a noticeable trail of murky, brown water trailing behind the ship as it sailed through otherwise crystal-clear seas.
The imagery has generated a wave of online responses. Some commenters took a light-hearted approach, calling the muddy plume a “farewell gift” and speculating it might be a result of waste discharge.
Others defended the scene, suggesting the discoloration was most likely sediment stirred up by the ship’s thrusters. Vessels of this size, especially in shallow waters, often agitate the seabed, bringing silt and sand to the surface.
As of now, local authorities have not issued any statements regarding a potential investigation. Still, the viral footage has renewed public concern over the environmental impact of cruise ships and has reignited calls for more stringent oversight in heavily trafficked ports.
