On May 13, Japanese shipping giant NYK Group celebrated the delivery and official naming of its new methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier, Green Future. The vessel was handed over by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. at the company’s Tsuneishi Factory in Japan.

Chartered by NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers Ltd., a subsidiary of NYK Group, Green Future is the first ship in the company's fleet to feature a dual-fuel engine that can operate using both traditional fuel oil and methanol.

The ship also incorporates Tsuneishi’s proprietary Aeroline technology, designed to minimize wind resistance and improve energy efficiency.

This addition to NYK’s fleet represents a significant move toward greener maritime operations, reinforcing the company's commitment to reducing emissions and adopting sustainable transport methods.

Flying the Liberian flag, the vessel measures 200 meters in length and 32 meters in width. It boasts a deadweight of around 35,700 metric tons and a cargo capacity of approximately 81,500 cubic meters.
